Awakening Dignity: A Conversation between Sophie (Shu-chin) Wu and Jan Willis at Charis Books

    January 25 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm EST

We are delighted to announce that the co-author of Awakening Dignity: A Guide to Living a Life of Deep Fulfillment, Sophie (Shu-Chin) Wu will be joining Alan Pope and Jan Willis to discuss the themes and topics raised in Rinpoche’s new book. Our friends are hosting this event at Charis Books in Decatur, GA (US)

The notion of dignity is crucial to the question of how best to live a meaningful and fulfilling life, particularly in today’s environment in which so many of us experience self-doubt, low self-esteem, and feelings of being trapped by anxiety, dissatisfaction, or even success. How, in such a circumstance, can we gain authentic and unshakeable dignity? In Awakening Dignity, Phakchok Rinpoche draws from the Tibetan Buddhist wisdom tradition to offer a unique and fresh approach to answering this question.

From the Buddhist perspective, dignity is an inherent quality of fundamental wholeness and completeness that we all naturally possess: our true nature is pure, and our heart is noble. In this guide, Phakchok Rinpoche shows how knowing that we are whole and complete already—and gaining trust and certainty in that understanding—can counteract the familiar feeling that we are not enough, that something is missing.

Charis Books is hosting this event, which will be in English. Translation into other languages will not be available.

    Reflection of the Day

Before we develop dignity, our low self-esteem is a disease. When we have dignity, it becomes an object of mindfulness and a reminder for change.
