Guru Rinpoche Day
March 1 All day
10th day of the lunar month
Guru Rinpoche day: Guru Rinpoche or Padmasambhava is the Buddha who established Tantric Buddhism in Tibet. At the esoteric level, he is the essence of all buddhas and masters. He is the Buddha of our troubled age, dispelling all negativities, and as such he occupies an important place in the hearts and in the practice of the Tibetans, particularly those of the Nyingma school.—Phillipe Cornu, Tibetan Astrology
Mahaguru Padmasambhava is known by many names in the Himalayan region. We may call out to him as Guru Rinpoche, the Lotus-Born Guru, the Buddha of the Three Times, or simply, the Mahaguru. Our partners at Nekhor have kindly compiled information about the Guru and his activities, including an explanation of sources for his life stories. Phakchok Rinpoche sends out short teachings to inspire his students every Guru Rinpoche day, you can read this archive stretching back 10 years here.
To support and inspire you in your practice, our partners at Akara Collection have commissioned this beautiful statue of Guru Rinpoche in accordance with the Tukdrub Barche Kunsel Terma. In addition, they offer this exquisite visual support, the 12 Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche Thangka.
