    Dear Dharma Brothers and Sisters,

    Here is a wonderful opportunity to have a joyful personal retreat during the busy holiday season.  Please sign up and enjoy an “Inspire Yourself Retreat.”

    Kyabgön Phakchok Rinpoche reminded us in his October Guru Rinpoche day message that we must take responsibility for our practice and not make excuses. This inspired the Samye team to create an online retreat that gives you the support and confidence to commit to a mini-retreat and give yourself an opportunity to practice.

    The retreat is called “Inspire Yourself” because we’re eliminating many of the issues that make retreat attendance difficult. To participate in this retreat, you can choose your own dates (within a one-month period), do the retreat at home or in another location of your choice, and set your own schedule. By providing this platform, we hope to help overcome the human tendency to procrastinate—here we truly say we have no excuses not to deepen our practice.

    This retreat is designed for students who

    • have attended Mahamudra retreats with Kyabgön Phakchok Rinpoche;
    • are currently enrolled in the Samye Path of Meditation course;
    • are following the Nine Yanas path; or
    • have been attending and practicing with Dharma Stream groups.

    During your practice sessions, you should follow the instructions you have received from Rinpoche directly either in retreats or in the online course or Dharma Stream. Each student thus practices as his or her own level and does the practice that he or she is currently following.

    We suggest beginning the day by setting up your shrine and taking extra care in making extensive offerings and setting your motivation. Doing a Sang offering, for example, would be an excellent enhancement practice. Please follow the practices of supplication and the sadhānā that you have been taught. At the end of each session, take extra time to do more extensive dedication prayers and make aspirations.

    Between sessions, you should rest, read Dharma books, listen to teachings, and reflect. You may want to engage in some yoga or gentle exercise. It is best if you do not have any other distractions, so take this opportunity to unplug from your devices and enjoy quiet time. If you are in a quiet environment, take some time to enjoy nature and sit outside without business. If you live in a big city, then create a cozy space in your home where you have little distraction.

    Important note: The accumulation-of-sitting counter is meant to inspire you and others. We do not judge or report any individual data. You can choose either to remain anonymous or to report your name. We hope the accumulation counter will serve to inspire you all by seeing the enthusiastic practice of our global sangha. We will be looking at the data by group and country mainly to help us better serve you and provide the course support and materials you need for your practice.

    May the accumulated hours of practice be of ultimate benefit for all sentient beings! Thank you for your participation and practice.

    You can “register” for the retreat by signing in at this link:
