Solving the Problem of Ignorance
Rinpoche wants to make sure we understand how the twelve links function. Here he discusses the first 4 Links in order, and how we can understand them.
He emphasizes wrong view, as a gross example of ignorance. This is based in body, speech and mind.
Rinpoche notes that Pratekyabuddas don’t talk about ignorance as a really big issue because they see it simply as a mental formation. However, at the practicel evel, we need to take it seriously.So how do we solve the problem of ignorance? We need to see clearly how ignorance functions before we put practice into action. When we understand this, then we will understand how the practice actually works – and we will know what to adopt and what to abandon. How can we know how to solve a problem when we don’t know what the problem is?
