Drupla Kalsang was born in 1961 in the region of Kham in eastern Tibet. After traveling on pilgrimage Mount Kailash in western Tibet, Drupla Kalsang travelled to Nepal, where he engaged in a three-year retreat below the Asura Cave. Originally trained in the Karma Kamtsang tradition, Drupla Kalsang is now the resident monastic at Samye Hermitage New York, where he offers the daily prayers and offerings according to the Chokling Tersar tradition.
