Mira Weil, DTM, has been a practicing Tibetan Buddhist for over 20 years, and had the great fortune to meet her root teacher, Phakchok Rinpoche, in the summer of 2007. From 2005-2009, she studied Tibetan medicine at the Shang Shung Institute School of Tibetan Medicine in Conway, MA and Sorig Loling Tibetan Medical College in eastern Tibet, under the mentorship of Dr. Phuntsog Wangmo, with a 3-month internship at Tso-Ngon (Qinghai) Provincial Hospital. After graduating with a Kachupa-level degree in Tibetan medicine in October 2009, Mira completed a one year apprenticeship with Dr. Kalsang Wangyal in northern California.
Since 2010 she has been in private clinical practice in Northampton, MA, as both a Doctor of Tibetan medicine and Certified Fertility Awareness & Sexual Health Educator. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a concentration on community health education, and will graduate in May 2019. Mira offers care that centers on the whole person and strives to meet each individual where they are. While specializing in sexual health, she works with people on an array of chronic and acute issues that impact their well being. Her practice not only addresses physical symptoms, but also looks at the emotional, spiritual, cultural, and social aspects at play. She is deeply indebted to the kindness and generosity of her many teachers, and most especially to her root Dharma teacher, Phakchok Rinpoche, and to her Tibetan medicine teachers.
