Mobility for Meditators

In this course, Neil Roberts presents a series of gentle stretches designed specifically to improve our mobility.

About This Course

Many people experience physical discomfort when they begin to meditate. As with any new activity, we need to approach it gently and with an open mind. We aim for regular, consistent practice and slowly develop more ease and openness—in both body and mind.

In this short offering, Neil Roberts presents a series of gentle stretches designed specifically to improve our mobility. Many of these target areas such as our tight hips that make seated meditation postures uncomfortable or inaccessible. This series of simple exercises adds more flexibility and comfort to a sitting meditation practice.

Phakchok Rinpoche often reminds students that gentle exercise such as this can bring more ease in sitting. And, when we feel more ease, we are happier to continue with practice. Neil Roberts has taught these exercises regularly at meditation retreats at Rangjung Yeshe Gomde New York in Cooperstown, New York.

In the program, Neil demonstrates each position in a video. He also gives clear and detailed voice-over instruction. The video program takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

This course also includes a forum—you may post any questions directly there.
