In this online teaching, recorded on September 12, 2020, Drupla Opak who has completed the traditional monastic three-year retreat and is a ritual specialist, offers practical advice for Practicing in the Chokling Tersar Tradition. Drupla explains that he is not a scholar and thus does not offer us deep philosophical teaching. However, he is happy to join Samye for this online teaching. He begins by asking all of us to listen to the Dharma, and this teaching on the Chokling Tersar, by first setting our motivation with the supreme intent of bodhicitta.
Drupla begins with an introduction and overview of the Chokling Tersar, situating that within the sacred mantrayana teachings given directly by Guru Rinpoche. He reminds us that Guru Rinpoche advised that these teachings would be particularly important for students in the future—meaning us!
Jamgön Kongtrul Lodrö Tayé described Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa as endowed with extraordinary compassionate motivation, extraordinary activity, and an extraordinary life story.
