Sampa Lhundrup Feast Offering and The Swift Accumulation of Merit

Buddhist Philosophy • video

This special teaching is a profound condensation of many important practices. Within this very short text we find the bodhisattva’s practice of generosity, mandala offerings, guru yoga.  Additionally, we practice confession, and we are able to repair broken samayas.

Sampa Lhundrup (Spontaneous Fulfiller of All Wishes) is a blessed teaching given by Guru Rinpoche.  The Great TertönChokgyur Dechen Shikpo Lingpa revealed the hidden terma.

When we recite this text while making feast offerings it brings great benefit for ourselves and for others. This condensed text helps achieve good fortune.  Additionally, it offers protection from all types of calamities, temporary and ultimate.  Sampa Lhundrup guards against conflict, disease, poverty, obstacle-makers, vicious animals, disturbances of the four natural elements, robbers, sudden death, the intermediate state, clinging to reality, and the sufferings of the six classes of beings.

In the following video Phakchok Rinpoche explains the benefits of feast offering practice:

Additonal Teaching on the Sampa Lhundrup

In the following audio clip, Rinpoche gives a complete commentary on the text beginning with the opening syllables. These very first syllables have profound meaning; Om Ah Hung represents Buddha’s body, speech, and heart. Rinpoche also explains the outer, inner, and secret meanings of each phrase. With these explanations, we can understand how the practice skillfully helps us to transform our own negativity.

Without personal instruction by a teacher within the lineage, we cannot properly understood the profound teachings. Nevertheless, through the profound nature of this talk some practitioners may be encouraged to seek deeper understanding, experience, and realization regardless of their own practice style or lineage. Rinpoche advises practitioners how they can incorporate and integrate this practice within such practices as the Condensed Daily practice.
