Yusheng, translated as “Prosperity Toss” is a Chinese New Year custom associated with Singapore and Malaysia.
It consists of a platter of seven colored foods centered around a mound of raw or soy fish which are tossed vigorously and shared by participants. The sound of ‘fish’ in Cantonese sounds like abundance so it connotes wealth ( spiritual and otherwise) and vigor, aspects praised by Rinpoche.
