Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, an incarnate lama of the Kagyu tradition and the monastery’s abbot, teaches each morning for seven days and Phakchok Rinpoche teaches in the afternoon. Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche’s talks are translated from Tibetan into English by a skilled interpreter. Depending on the availability of additional interpreters and needs of the audience, simultaneous translations may be offered into Chinese, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Danish, and Portugese. Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche relies on an interpreter for communicating the more subtle intricacies of Buddhist philosophy however is also has a strong command of the English language and will sometimes trach directly in English.
For more than thirty-eight years, Rinpoche has been instructing a large and growing number of students of nearly every nationality in meditation and Vajrayāna practices. With a concise, lucid, and humorous approach, he imparts the very heart of the Buddhist teachings, revealing the natural simplicity of the enlightened mind.
During the first half of the seminar, Rinpoche provides the audience with an introduction to the fundamental teachings of Buddhist practice and philosophy common to all Buddhist schools. During the latter half of the seminar, participants are guided through the more esoteric and profound perspectives, applications, and doctrines of both Mahayāna and Vajrayāna traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, including a clear explanation of the viewpoints of Madhyamaka, Mahāmudra, and Dzogchen.
