Sangyum Dechen Chödrön, (Sukha Dharma) was the first spiritual consort or “sangyum” of Chokgyur Lingpa. She was known more widely as Lady Degah, and also by the name Dekyi Chodron.
Although there is little biographical information available, she was from Nangchen and was the sister of Chokgyur Lingpa’s disciple Barwai Dorje. In 1874, she requested Jamgong Kongtrul to compose the Light of Wisdom, a commentary on Chokgyur Lingpa’s Lamrim Yeshe Nyingpo, Stages of the Path of the Wisdom Essence terma.
Manifestation of Yeshé Tsogyal, Sukha Dharma
This line refers to Chokgyur Lingpa’s personal consort, who was an emanation of Yeshé Tsogyal. She was known by the name Sang-yum Dechen Chödrön. In Tibetan, Sukha Dharma translates as Dharma Lamp of Great Bliss (Dechen Chödrön). She had two children by Chokgyur Lingpa, a son and a daughter. Her son was Tsewang Drakpa, alias Wangchuk Dorjé, and her daughter was Könchok Paldrön.
